To limit search results to news media, select the Source Type “News” in the left sidebar of OneSearch.
Tip: to find news coverage from a specific time period, click the “Show More” link so you can add the month to the Publication Date limiter.
To limit your search to a specific newspaper, add the newspaper’s name to the search box. Use quotation marks around the newspaper’s name so the words are searched together as a phrase. You can also use the Journal Titles limiter in the left sidebar of OneSearch.
The library also provides access to several newspapers via digital subscription.
To access the Chronicle of Higher Education, go to chronicle.com. In the upper right hand corner, click log in. (Don’t subscribe! We’ve done that for you!). Then create a free account using your Union email.
To activate your Pass for free access to NYTimes.com, visit UI&U’s group pass page. Select Create Account. Enter your information and choose a personal account password. You will need to reauthorize your Pass once every 365 days using the group pass URL (linked above).
Once activated, your Pass will provide access to NYTimes.com from any location. If you would like to access the newspaper from your phone or tablet, download the free app and login using the personal account you created. For more information on the NYT app, visit www.nytimes.com/mobile
