Your professor asks you to write a literature review on a topic related to race and ethnic identity in the 21st century. You must use scholarly sources to address your topic.

You are interested specifically in the cultural identity of Native Americans. The keywords you decide to use are Native American and identity.

Go to Academic Search Premier, a multidisciplinary database that will search across many fields. (You will have to log in with your UI&U user id and password.) Start your search by entering Native American in the first search box and identity. in the second search box. Note: The pull-down boxes allow you to connect terms with and or or. For this search, you will use and. Click the Search button.

Tip: Check the boxes by Full Text and Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals to limit your results more.

Here are the results of your search. Note three things:

1. Clicking on the article title will take you to the complete record.
2. The subject terms describe the main focus of the article and are other terms you could search by.
3. Click PDF Full Text to view the article and open options to print it or email it to yourself. When printing PDF documents, be sure to use the print icon directly above the article.
